OMG that's stunning! Am I mistaken or are there characters from Blood Omen (my beloved game)?
Wonderful work!

Thank you so much, I'm glad you like it :)
I love Blood Omen too, it is my adaptation with lots of artistic freedom about the guardian characters.

I really like the drawing style and the composition, but I find the colours clash a little too much. Green and red together are hard enough to work with on their own, and adding in the beige and blue kind of makes the figures look a little washed out and underwhelming. The other pieces you've done in this series with just the blue/red are more effective and contribute to a higher overall colour harmony, whereas this one feels almost a little bit tacky and unrefined.

I do, however, really like the use of white as a contrast, though I think the decision to leave some of the celtic knotwork (which is exceptional, by the way) near his head reduces the effectiveness of the colour.

I was interested in seeing your technique from the tutorial as it's not one I'm familiar with (I had immediately assumed this was silk painting).

Yup, I totally forgot to design and think over the colour scheme. Thank you so much the appreciation to my crappy-crappy unrefined stuff. :)

I think you should check the tutorial process first then try it to see how difficult this kind of work is, then try it yourself before casting such a judgement.

Is that Mobius the Time Streamer I see (bastard had it coming)? Either way, I like it, especially with the flat colors and such, the style is intriguing. I also like the addition of the pillars in the background, since they don't call attention to themselves necessarily, but are eye-catching.

Thank you! Yes, that's Moebius with a lot of fellow bastards around :)
Batik works with a flat non-realistic 2D style, I wanted to make the composition decorative, rather giving the impression of a mural or a tapestry with the design. I had no idea for the background for long, even thought of the blood fountains, but in the end I drawn the pillars with the ornaments connecting them with Nupraptor's head representing they got affected by his madness.

Ah, I hadn't noticed that at the bottom! I'm still slowly working my way through the games (I've thrashed Defaince though. And have the rest), but I really love this piece.

Yes, I depicted all pillar guardians Kain killed, and Nupraptor was the craziest of them all :)
Personally I love only the two Blood Omens in the series, the other 3 games that had Raziel the main character felt like a different game with different characters under the same title.

Nice! I'll admit I really like Raziel (post becoming the wraith that he is). Then again, I connect better with underlings and servants; however, I have a hearty amount of respect for Kain. With him, there's plenty more character development, unlike Raziel, who doesn't change much throughout the series (from what I understand). The other leg-up Kain has over Raziel (poor wording, my apologies) is that while he accepts destiny/fate, he also does a good job of giving it the middle finger. (Quite frankly, in Defiance, the juxtaposition of static and dynamic major characters is pretty cool)
So, as much as I adore Raziel (again, empathy for servants), Kain is more deserving of respect than he normally gets from Raziel fans. After all, it IS Kain's legacy :)

That's funny a bit the things you like about the changes in Kain's character is what I endlessly hate the developers for, throwing out his original character and replacing him with a different creature who's not him. I damn like the Kain in the Blood Omens with his selfishness and arrogance and kick first, ask later attitude, but I don't see him existing in the Raziel games, it was rather a disappointment to see what was done to the character when the game was taken by a different developer. To be honest when I first played a SR game I had no clue about who that green wizardly character was, thought it's Vorador, and kept waiting to see Kain showing up in the game, and came with a shock about the middle of the game when I realized. :fear: :)
That's why I feel the two series (Blood Omen and SR/Defiance) two standalone stories under the same title, Blood Omen is purely a wicked game for adults about the anti-hero Kain, but SR has a different target audience with the goodhero Raziel in the main role, for an odd reason SR became more popular than the original Legacy, SR fans don't really like Kain, especially not his original white-skinned character.

Very nice piece of work. The fact it is on fabric makes it so much cooler. The colors and design is very eye catching. I believe this will be included in my favorites and I am very picky.

Thank you. I try to choose the best fitting medium for a concept, and fabric paint suited the best to this stylized image. I'm glad you like the design, I spent more time with creating the ornaments and the colour scheme than usual because of the multicolours. :)

I know, there is a lot of work that goes into textile art of most any variety. Many people don't realize just how time intensive it can be but I also find that it can be equally rewarding. :)

Yep. I loved that game. It was so... athmospheric.
A friend of mine wrote a dark fantasy novel; he wanted to describe a dying world without hope. He thought of some good examples. Finally he chose Nosgoth.

Agrees, Nosgoth is the best place for wicked and cynical dark fantasy, it not only has no hope, but also it's important characters who have the power to change the world are too selfish to bother with it from the guardians to Kain himself. But that's what makes a fine anti-hero story :)

Thank you so much :) I tried to grab the essence of the game's story with this composition, the game is too good to let it forgotten, and also gives a lot of inspiration for art.
