As I remember, I've drawn women with swords and plate armour since my childhood so I guess I always had the interest for fantasy, only it was hidden for so many years.
I started drawing intensely when I attended an art-school, but I made a mistake with showing my personal pieces (pics inspired by Stephen King's books) to the teachers, and I got rude critiques on them like "Take this shit away to the f*ck!" (really) or "You looks like imitating Boris Vallejo's disgusting world" I said: "Boris who?" and started searching for his art. I guess this was the point when I really got fallen in love with fantasy and anatomy.
Highschool was the same, it was years of fighting against being turned towards the so called "modern style" I didn't felt familiar with.
I found DA accidentally when I was browsing for LoK pics last year. I created an account, but made no activity for months. I didn't even wanted to submit any of my works according to the bad experiences from real life, but in a drunken moment after a b-day party, I've made my first submissions
I wanted to remove everything on the next day, but I was surprised to see my things were loved. So that's all.

For the contest "Kain in the morning" we drawn the same sketch without knowing about each others idea. It was a big surprise when we shared them on msn, but be both decided to draw something else as final entries. What we originally drawn was Kain asleep. I drawn mine later

Ps you're teachers should start having some lessons themselves, where has respect the artist has gone?
I admit I don't the style of Boris but I would never dare say something like that because he IS a good artist i just have different tastes

I accidentally spilled a bottle of paint on the paper, and they were amazed how artistic it was. So that's what they call as art.
It's still better as these untalented ppl decide to teach art, and gratify their frustration on the students than to become such a bastard like Hitler.
